Using Objectives and Key Results with Balanced Scorecard
BSC, OKR, KPIs, MBO, SMART – the number of frameworks designed to do roughly the same thing can be confusing. Do you use one of these frameworks and fear you are missing out on the benefits of one of the others? Join BSI CEO David Wilsey on this recorded webinar to learn to use these frameworks together to strategically align, execute and adapt.
Background: Balanced scorecard has long been established as one of the premier strategic planning and performance management frameworks in the world, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) have been increasing in popularity as a goal-setting methodology used to create a culture of accountability and agility. But not many organizations use the two methodologies together. To be effective, OKRs need to be balanced, focused on results, effectively implemented, and aligned with strategy. Without a strategic framework to align with and a disciplined implementation approach, OKR implementations can turn into glorified to-do lists, include long laundry lists of trivial metrics, or get ignored over time. On the flip side, balanced scorecards implemented and cascaded without the agile execution principles that underlie OKRs can be sluggish.
During this session, you will learn:
- The basic differences between balanced scorecards, KPIs, OKRs, and related frameworks, as well as the relative strengths of each
- How to avoid some of the pitfalls associated with each framework
- How to use the frameworks together to strategically align, execute and adapt
